Picture 1 - Christmas 1994
Marion Wisinski, Barb, Bob, Sy Wisinski. Bob's shirt says 'Napa Valley Wino',
in case you are curious.
Picture 2 - Ravinia
Ravinia Music Festival takes place in Ravinia Park, Highland Park, Illinois
(not too far north of Chicago). It is "devoted to the presentation of concerts
by outstanding symphony orchestras and other musical bodies of high artistic
purpose and renown and also dramatic art, all designed to uphold the high standards
of artistic and educational values heretofore established." There is a pavilion
with real seats and a roof, however, the fun is to have a picnic on the lawn and
listen to the music over the speakers. You can see by the crowd behind us that we
aren't the only people who feel this way.
The team referred to in the note was also known as the 'ADMIN Team'. In all Barb's career, this team was the BEST. Barb worked with them for almost 10 years before leaving in the fall of 1996 when Washington National Health Division was sold to PFS. Marianne, whose husband can be seen in the picture to Bob's left, took over the leadership role of the ADMIN team.
Picture 3 - Mike's and Sally's Wedding
Mike Rice, Barb and Bob. The wedding took place in a beautiful chapel in Harvey's
Casino in Stateline, Nevada. Even though the wedding was in April, winter was still
very much in control in Lake Tahoe. The day Mike, Sally, Bob and Barb flew in to
Reno, Nevada there was a spring blizzard. The drive from Reno to Stateline was very
scary. We all just made it before the state police closed the highway. Mike told
Sally the wedding was off because he had promised God that, if he made it alive to
the hotel, he would become a priest. I guess he changed his mind, though, because
the wedding took place. Barb, of course, cried - her first-born had taken a wife.
Picture 4 - Pat's and Jennifer's Wedding
Sally and Mike Rice, Barb, Bob, Pat and Jennifer Rice. The picture was taken at
Jennifer's parents' house after the wedding. Pat and Jennifer chose to have a very
informal wedding, by a judge - the clothes you see in the picture are the clothes
we all wore at the wedding. Even without the dress-up, the wedding was beautiful
and, yes, Barb cried at this one, too.
Picture 5 - Barb in 3 season room
There is not enough space here to describe the nightmare of getting this room built.
So we won't describe it. However, when the walls and roof were finally up (3 months
late), we were so anxious to try it out that we put some old lawn furniture out there
and had a celebratory glass of wine and some good cheese. The room didn't have any
lights, electric, or carpet, and the new furniture was still on order. BUT, we could
laugh at the yellow-jackets and bees that wanted to come in and join in the 'feast'.
In 2001, we spent a great deal of time out there - eating most meals, reading, and
just relaxing. It was worth the aggravation.
